Intermediate difficulty

There are no technical sections but the route is physically demanding. Not to worry, if you have a 800wh e-bike battery you can almost ride it entirely in turbo mode.

At first glance, the island may seem too narrow for anything beyond the obvious main roads. But with a bit of curiosity – and the right local insight – you’ll discover quiet paths that many riders overlook. This route is all about finding those lesser-known connections and experiencing a different side of the island.

The ride begins in Zagazinjine, Mali Lošinj, near Papa Bepi. After crossing the bridge, instead of staying on the main road, you’ll turn onto an old gravel path leading toward Poljana. It’s a small detour that makes a big difference. The eastern side of the island feels calmer and far less traveled; at times, you may have the entire stretch to yourself.

On the return from Poljana, we recommend using the cycling path along the right side of the main road for a safer and smoother approach back toward town. After passing the main square and tackling a short but steep paved climb, you’ll reach Velopin and continue along a scenic coastal path. It’s narrow and close to the sea—beautiful, but best enjoyed at a controlled pace. If a view catches your eye, it’s wise to stop completely before taking photos.

Staying true to the theme of “less obvious routes,” the trail then guides you through shaded forest paths toward Čikat Camp. From there, you’ll follow a pleasant mix of paved and unpaved surfaces back toward the main road. A final stretch with light traffic brings you smoothly back to your starting point.

The island’s terrain is rocky and full of character. Keep your focus on the trail – but don’t forget to pause, look around, and take in the scenery. Sometimes the quieter routes leave the strongest impressions.
